diy, fix your broken compact

I know at one time or another we've all dropped our favorite blush, bronzer or eyeshadow and watched it break into a bunch of little pieces. At this point i'm probably so upset that i'm thinking irrationaly and throwing the compact in the trash. Well I just found out that you can actually fix your shattered make up! It's a fairly simple and easy process. All you need is:
  • rubbing alcohol (70% or higher)
  • a spoon or knife
  • ziploc bag
  • a quarter
  • a piece of cloth or kleenex.
Below is a video with a step by step tutorial posted by Kandee Johnson. Not only is she super sweet and cute but she's really great at explaining or as I like to call it, dumbing down, the process.

If you loved Kandee's video be sure to check out her other great tips here as well as her adorable blog.

I plan on trying this out asap! Do you have any great beauty tips that you'd like to share with us?

hollywood glam.

When it comes to make up, there isn't anything more classic or beautiful then a cat eye and a red lip. Both looks can seem intimidating and hard to do but that's not true at all! The hardest part is just finding the right color red to compliment your skin tone and a foolproof eyeliner (along with some practice) to apply the purrfect cat eye.

I may be biased but i LOVE a good red lip! Nothing is more sexy, glamorous and sophisticated all in one. To find the perfect red lipstick it is important to first know what type of skin tone you have. Once you've figured out whether you are warm or cool, you can begin your quest for the ultimate red lipstick! Above and below are examples of the reds you should aim for. I personally use Lancome's Code Red and I can't even tell you how many compliments I've received when wearing it.

Warm Skin Tones: Orangey reds, Warm reds, Tomato reds, Brown based reds, Golden reds, Tawny reds.

Cool Skin Tones: Pink tones of red, Berry Reds, Blackberry Reds, Brick Reds, Blue tones of Red, Plum tones.

All Skin Tones: True Red (Think Fire Engine Red)

*Fun Fact: Red lipsticks with blue undertones will make your teeth look whiter!

When it comes to a cat eye, liquid liner is your friend. You want to start out by lining the inner corner of your eye. While keeping it close to the lash line, begin to drag the brush towards the outer corner of your eye. As you reach the end, flick your wrist towards your temple in order to achieve the perfect wing. If you extended the line too long, you can always use a q-tip to clean it up. For those who learn better visually (like myself) I posted a video below.

As for different liquid eyeliners I tend to go for the drugstore brands. Look for ones that have short brushes. The shorter the better. If you want to spice it up, you could opt for different colors other than black. Almay has different eyeliners that correspond specifically to your eye color. If liquid eyeliner isn't for you, I suggest you try gel liner and use a thin angled brush.

What's your take on red lipstick and liquid liner? Do you plan on trying it out for yourself? I hope this was helpful!
